Shakti Yoga Journal: "You were one of the first people to start making Orgonite, How did you get started?"
In 2004 we heard about an artist's market that was held every Saturday in Downtown Santa Fe and thought that it would be fun to be a part of and share our orgonite creations. Our first showing went well and each weekend we became increasingly more excited to display all of our new creations. It didn't take long before we needed to make a website for what we were doing. We also decided to expand our vending opportunities to holistic fairs and expo's.
Shakti Yoga Journal: " Did you have any challenges then?"
In the beginning, one of the largest challenges was to refine our technique and to find the right venue to share what we had learned and our products. We wanted to craft something that would be cherished for its energetic qualities as well as its beauty. So we were striving for a high level of craftsmanship and design while growing our knowledge and experience with orgone energy to incorporate in the work to accommodate these goals. There was a lot of time and energy spent creating new things, researching, experimenting, getting feedback etc.
Shakti Yoga Journal: " Any concerns?"
Sure there were moments of concern along the way. When we found ourselves vending creations of our heart and the patrons could only see them as insignificant paperweights we definitely had moments of wondering if we were on the correct path, and then blessings would shine on our work and we would know that we just needed to persevere.
We learned from these experiences. We developed in our own painstaking way how to hone in on our target market, which is the person looking to enhance their lives with beautiful orgone/chi energy tools. We listened to our customers feedback and refined our product with this in mind and we continue to do this always.
Shakti Yoga Journal: " How long have you been doing this?"
We are in our 10th year.
Shakti Yoga Journal: "What keeps you going?"
Having the realization that this is what I am supposed to be doing. Knowing that you are on your true path is such a wonderful feeling and a driving force behind this endeavor.
One of the biggest mental challenges has come from being at the leading edge of innovating and refining this rather obscure thought form into a tangible item that could be helpful and beautiful to the masses that was only being explored and experimented with by a few, to the flood of competition that is only natural when something is really working. This created some discouragement to see the prospect of the process to make a living at doing what we love becoming harder. The other is the doubts and negativity of others. But the answer to both of these is to remain true to my personal vision of using orgonite to make the world a better place. I have found that by combining my passion for sacred geometry and orgonite, I can share my desire for a deeper connection to spirit through this art.
The biggest physical obstacle along the way was learning how to do all the tasks it takes to make a business succeed. Half of my energy is spent doing website upkeep, designing graphics, corresponding on custom orders, listing items online, maintaining a gallery presence, shipping orders, everything but actually making art. I have had to disciple myself to make sure that the business side of Orgonix is taken care of in balance with the time and energy put into making our art.
Shakti Yoga Journal: "Do you have any inspirations?"
Some of my biggest inspirations are Jose Arguelles who was a natural time visionary, Don Bradley who was an early orgonite innovator and Android Jones who is a pioneer in the field of digital art.
"The Transformative Vision" by Jose Arguelles has been a cornerstone in my understanding of the role spiritual vision plays in the development of artistic endeavors.
Shakti Yoga Journal: "What would you like to be known for?"
I would like Orgonix to be known for envisioning orgonite as an artisitc medium and providing a product that is beautiful, inspirational, playful, magical and a little mysterious.
